Lawrence Batley Theatre Resident Artist's Exhibition

These three faces are currently on show at the Lawrence Batley Theatre Resident Artist's Exhibition at Queen St Huddersfield. They are created from steel wire mesh, hand manipulated into shape. The features are emphasised with stitched wire as the faces will eventually be attached to the outside of the building.
Have a look at them now while on show inside the theatre. The light casting different shadows accross the original face.

Barbara Hellowell - About Me

I live and work in Huddersfield.
I achieved a first class Honours degree in Contemporary Art Practice at Leeds University in 2007. I have recently exhibited at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield, where I am Resident Artist and also have work on show at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. I work with wire of varying gauge and texture. I enjoy the pleasure of working hands -on, the tactile approach. The idea determines the material.
